2007-Aug-14 Weekly Weight Update

Posted by Admiral70 | Weight Loss Surgery | August 2007

This morning I weighed in at 172.  I keep vacillating between 172 and 175 which I will not complain over.  I will be making another post later about my two year check up and presentation in San Francisco.  Be sure to watch for that.

Have a great day.

2007-July-31 WLS Update

Posted by Admiral70 | Weight Loss Surgery | July 2007

Oh no, it was not a very good week.  I weighed in at 175.4 this morning, that is up a couple.  Some would say about time but for me and where I have been that is not what I wanted to see this morning.  I know my problem is the grazing I have been doing at night.  I have been doing a little more than normal.  I will need to dig deep this week and work on my mental attitude towards eating.

I find that eating is a huge mental game.  I am not hungry mainly because I still do not get hungry due to my surgery.  So with that in mind it is all in my mind that I feel I need to eat something.  Sometimes I think I graze because of boredom it only happens at night when I am home.  This would be a good one for Dr. Phil don’t you think?

I will work through the issues and do better this week I need to be around the 170 mark for my 2 year annual checkup.  No reason other than I want to be at that weight.

Have a good week all and if you have bad eating habits let me know what they are.

2007-July-24 WLS Update

Posted by Admiral70 | Weight Loss Surgery | July 2007

I awoke this morning at 0600 and jumped out of bed to weigh-in.  This morning I am showing 173.2 pounds.  Once again I go up 2-3 pounds and then back 2-3 pounds.  I seem to be hovering between 170 - 175.

I would say the cause of this is the grazing I tend to do over the weekends.  Most of my grazing tends to be Sunday evening and Monday evenings.  If I were to get away from that I bet my weight would stay about the 170 mark.

I am still sticking to the protein drink in the morning.  Sometimes I have a half a bagel with peanut butter.  Then take my meds and get around.  Right before I leave I tend to make my protein drink for the road.

I can tell you what I need to do it’s just actually doing it that tends to be the issue.  I need to have a protein drink in the morning and no other food.  Then eat at lunch and then again at dinner.  No grazing from the 5 pm (dinner) to 10 pm time I go to bed.  If I do need a snack I need to stick to popcorn only.

I have my annual checkup and speaking engagement coming up in San Francisco in a few weeks (Aug 8th).

Have a great week.

2007-July-17 WLS Update

Posted by Admiral70 | Weight Loss Surgery | July 2007

Today is my typical weigh-in day and my weight this morning was 170.8 pounds that is a loss from last week.  I find that I am hovering right around the 170 to 175 pounds.  This is okay with me I do not mind this weight.  Just a brief recap incase your new to my blog.  I recommend going the categories box and selecting WLS to see my history.  I weighed 325.5 pounds the day of my weight loss surgery performed by Pacific Laparoscopy August 30, 2005.

This morning I had blood drawn for my annual WLS checkup.  I went to LabCorp at 7 am this morning and over an hour later they had drew 12 vials of blood.  I was giving Lynn a hard time that I was going to run out of blood.  At that moment my vain dried up would not produce for that last vial.  Lynn and I started to crack up and sure enough we had to stick the other arm for that last vial, ugg.

I will be having my 2 year annual checkup in August.  Later that evening I will be the guest speaker at there monthly meeting.  I am working on my speech and so far have rewritten it 5 times and have it narrowed down from 5 pages to 1 so far.  I struggle with this as I feel compelled to speak about my heart condition along with my WLS.  Should be fun and looking forward to helping spread the word.

Have a great day.

2007-Feb-27 WLS Update

Posted by Admiral70 | Weight Loss Surgery | February 2007

Good morning all:

Today is Tuesday my typical weigh-in day to chart my WLS update. As of this morning I weight 174 pounds. I have been holding steady right between 174 and 180. Not to bad for a guy that was 359.5 pounds in May 2005.

I will be writing a couple of reviews for products I recently have been using. So watch for that in upcoming post. For now have a great day and see you online.

Protein Blended Mocha Beverage

Posted by Admiral70 | Beverages, Weight Loss Surgery | February 2007

Wanted to list my protein drink that I make every morning. I loved mocha frapps from that big retailer but they are loaded with sugar. Here is my alternative

Jeff Protein Blended Mocha Beverage
1/4 cup (2oz) - Half caffein coffee
2 scoops - Protein Powder (EAS Premium Protein)
1/4 cup - Half & Half
2 Tbsp - Sugar Free Chocalote syurp (Torani)
Ice
Blend well

Makes about 16 oz mug of cool refreshing protein beverage

Here are the specs on this drink.
300 calories
110g Cholestrol
4g Sugars
30g Protein
65g Sodium
200g Potassium
9.5g Fat
0 Fiber
7 pts for Weight Watchers

Lower in sugar and high in Protein is what I look out for due to my WLS. Just wanted to share this since I finally figured it all out. I some times substitue half caff with decaf

Echogram

Posted by Admiral70 | Heart | January 2007

I had a heart appointment today and my ejection fraction is about 47% that is up from last test. I was hoping for higher at least in the 50% range. Trying to not be discouraged about that result but tough.  I know I should be grateful that I still have my original heart and not taking 50 different medications.  My cardiologist said if my ejection fraction was above 50% we could talk about taking my defibrillator out.  I will keep you informed as I get more information thank you for reading.
