Hello I’m Johnny Cash

Published by Jeff under Family, Reviews

My 2 year old climbed up on the couch grabbed me by the cheeks looking me straight in the eyes with intense sincerity  said “Hello I’m Johnny Cash” then got down off the couch and started shaking her rump like she was Elvis.  I just about busted a gut from laughing so hard.  After I calmed down I wondered where in the world she heard that.

Then I remembered we watched ‘Walk the line‘ with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon the other night.  Walk the Line is based Johnny Cashes life.  It starts with Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) standing in front of a table saw in Folsom Prison remember how he got to that point.  It went through his life as a child then an airmen in the Air Force a traveling door to door salesman and then getting a record deal with Sun Records in Memphis, TN.

I enjoy watching this movie with my daughter.  She loves to dance around and sing to the great soundtrack.  She always wants me to forward to the music parts.

I give this movie 4 stars and thought Joaquin did a great job.  I would recommend it to anyone that likes a good performance with a good sound track.

Enjoy.

Shasta Lake

Published by Jeff under Family

Went to Shasta Lake over the weekend to fish, swim, and relax.  Even though Shasta Lake is at an all time low it was still a very nice relaxing time.  Went out with the family and my brother Ryan.  Here is a picture of Uncle Ryan with our 2 1/2 year old Adriana.

As you can see from the picture it was a good time had by all.  To give you an example of how far down the lake is in the picture below you will see a lot of dirt.

Yes the water is normally up to the trees.  This lake feeds the Sacramento River which in turn feeds the central valley for agriculture and drinking water.  The fishing is not all that hot right now due to how low the lake is.

Here is my Dad trying to catch a fish which we have been skunked for about a week.  We are thinking the fish are deep for cooler water so we will try to go deep and see what happens.  If you have never been to Shasta Lake you should come out to Northern California and give it try.  Ask my friend Rich how much fun it can be?  A little inside joke that I could not do justice trying to explain.  Just imagine high speeds and a body rolling across the lake.

Take care everyone.

Our Fourth of July

Published by Jeff under Family, Food, Friends, Holidays

We made it through another Fourth of July with no injuries.  It was over 110 degrees in the Shasta Lake City/Redding area so we stayed indoors the bulk of the day.

We went to my Dad’s for a BBQ and then that evening the family went swimming.  Tammy made some tasty salads and a desert.

Here we have a Seafood Ceaser Salad.

Watermelon Fruit Basket (I made most of those watermelon balls)

Dad and Kathy had steak and chicken shiskabobs and I BBQ them up for the group.

That night we drove up to my work Ch2m Hill which is off of Airpark Drive in Redding.  We have a balcony that over looks the Sundial Bridge where the fireworks are located.  Here are a couple of photos of the fireworks that lasted about 25 minutes.

It was a very pleasant evening and the fireworks were spectacular as usual.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.
